Parent-coach-relay:
Sometimes, the teams decide to have a parent-coach relay at the end of a meet. This is a playful way to end a meet with 4 parents (and coaches) from each team racing each other. The kids have a lot of fun cheering on their parents. If you like to be a part of such a relay team (with your choice of stroke), please let info@wrswimteam.com know that you are interested. If the other team also has 4 parents/coaches willing to step up, the game is on! Go Barracudas!

Inclement weather:  If the weather is determined to be too bad to hold the meet in a responsible timeframe, then it automatically gets postponed by 24 hours to Wednesday of the same week, same time, same location. The swimmer and volunteer line-up stays the same, it is expected that everyone will be there again. We sure hope that this doesn't happen at all! The same arrival times rules apply for the make-up meets: see details above

Important reminders for HOME meets:

Parking: As a courtesy to the guests, please DO NOT park in our parking lot, but either walk, bike, take a scooter to the pool, or park in the adjacent streets. We want to leave the parking lot spaces for our guests. Kids with bikes should park them alongside the fence of the playground, not on the grass slope leading to the pool. Thanks!

Arrival: The home team arrives between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. as they always warm up first at 5 p.m. Please have your child onsite between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. to get their numbers (no sunscreen on the upper arms, please), info on which swim strokes they are swimming, and for warm-up laps. Please do not come late as the swimmers will not have a chance to warm up!

What to bring: 2 towels, sun screen, warm clothes, and a game or book, maybe an extra chair. When swimmers aren't lined up for their turn to swim, they NEED to stay in their designated area with their kid pusher(s). No running around on the pool deck or fooling around, please. Parents, please stress this when you talk to your kids about the appropriate behavior during a meet.

Volunteers: If you are a volunteer for a home meet, please check in with the volunteer coordinator between 5 and 5:30 p.m. to get credit for your job.

Your start time is determined by the job you are signed up for:
Meet set-up 4 to 4:15 p.m.
Concessions 4:15 to 4:30 p.m.
Kid pushers between 4:45 and 5 p.m.
Everyone else at 5:30 p.m.

You must stay for the duration of the meet resp. until your job duties end.

Food at the Weldon Ridge pool: The Barracudas, as all teams do, supplements its income by offering dinner items, usually cheese/pepperoni pizza, nachos & cheese dip, as well as beverages, snacks/ice cream/candy for sale at the home meets. This helps us keep our registration fees low. Please refrain from bringing your own dinner to the pool, and plan on buying your dinner from the snack shack. We also offer punch cards for $10 and $20, with no expiration date, and good for everything in the shack.

Clean-up after the meet: We have only one dedicated meet clean-up volunteer who is in charge of putting away our speaker equipment, etc. Everyone is expected to clean up the area of the pool deck they were using. Please remind your children to clean up food wrappers, empty sun screen bottles, etc. and re-arrange the deck chairs/lounge chairs they occupied.

Important reminders for AWAY Meets:

Parents are responsible for providing their own transportation to away meets.

Arrival: For away meets, please come by 5 p.m. at the latest. The kids will get their numbers put on the arms (absolutely no sun screen there, please!), receive info on the strokes they’re swimming, and start their warm-up promptly at 5:30 p.m. Do not come late as they will miss their warm-ups!
